Collegiate/GOLD
Activities Connect Students and Recent Graduates with Experts in the
Industry
Undergraduate students, graduate students and Graduates of the last
decade are invited to join us for the Collegiate/GOLD program.
Highlights of the program will include a collegiate poster session with
prizes, a collegiate/GOLD reception, a collegiate job fair,
an
interactive industry roundtable session, an industry-led tour of the
exhibit hall and a collegiate/GOLD luncheon. These activities will
provide an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates to
network with industry representatives.
For more information about the Student Poster Contest, as well as the Student
Hotel Support Program, please visit the IEEE-PES Student Meetings
Subcommittee
web page.
The future engineers of the electric power industry who are enrolled
and studying at colleges and universities will have an opportunity to
present papers they have prepared under the supervision of a sponsoring
professor. The participating student and author of each paper is
required to be either an undergraduate or graduate student at the time
of the conference. The papers and presentations will be judged and
evaluated by a panel of engineers from the industry and higher
learning.
Students are reminded that conference badges will be required for all
conference functions including
entry into the exhibit area. Watch for further information on this site
and in the upcoming Technical Program which is due to be issued in the
near future. All inquiries about the Collegiate/GOLD program should be
addressed in e-mail format to Alex
Flueck.

Paul McCoy,
President and co-founder of Trans-Elect
Trans-Elect
was the first independent electric transmission company in North
America. The company purchased the
transmission
assets of Consumers Energy in Michigan and became a co-general
partner of a consortium that acquired the transmission
assets of TransAlta in Alberta Canada. Trans-Elect also
partnered with Pacific Gas and Electric and the U.S.
Department of Energy’s Western Area Power Administration to
develop California's Path 15 transmission line.
Before
co-founding Trans-Elect, McCoy spent 27 years at Commonwealth Edison.
At ComEd, he served for 7 years as a member of the senior
executive policy team, and had direct responsibility for
the planning, design, operation, and construction
functions for the company’s transmission and distribution systems.
